How To Design A Double Fan Bound Book...
Use the below calculations to design your Double Fan bound book.
(Minimum text bulk of .501″ needed)
The spine width is equal to the text bulk plus .25”
Calculation: # of pages / PPI (pages per inch) = Text Bulk
Text Bulk + .25 = Spine Width
Example: (300/513ppi) = .584 Then .584+.25 =.834 (Spine Width)
The hinge is space allowed for the front and back cover to bend. The hinge is .375” wide.
C. Board Width
The board width is equal to the trim width of the book block minus .1875”.
D. Board Height/Spine Height
The board height is equal to the trim height of the book block plus .25”.
The wrap is extra cover that wraps around the board. The wrap is .875”.
E. Overall Height
Calculation: E+D+E = Overall Height
F. Overall Width
Calculation: E+C+B+A+B+C+E = Overall Width
