What is Hi, I’m Fox about?

“Hi, I'm Fox!” is a children's (3+ yrs) rhyming picture book that celebrates kindness, friendship, and inclusion through a lovable little dog named 'Fox'. Essentially, the moral of the tale is to not judge a book by its cover. Fox and all of her newly made friends achieve this throughout the story by being kind and helping one another. Printed prominently on the back cover is the theme: 'When given the choice, be kind.'

What inspired you to write this book?

One day, while I was out walking my dog Foxy -the actual dog who inspired the main character- she met a turtle who hid in his shell. The encounter sparked my imagination and the story was born. Amazingly, I was able to take a photo of it when it happened!

What part of the writing/illustration process did you find the most enjoyable with this book?

I loved everything! From the initial spark of the idea to the night that the entire story poured out of me to developing each character and drawing all of the illustrations. I've learned that it's quite the process to write, illustrate and design a children's picture book!

What got you into writing children’s books, and what inspired the story of Fox?

Interestingly, my writing journey began after my parents gave me an acoustic guitar at the age of 11, which is when I started to write songs and poems. When the idea for 'Hi, I'm Fox!' hit me, it felt only natural to write it as a rhyming story. Although this is my first children's tale, I plan on continuing to write the Adventures of Fox books as a series for many years to come (with the second book in the series due to be published in June – stay tuned)!

How did My Book Printer help your vision become a reality?

My experience with My Book Printer has been fantastic and I love that they are located in Michigan!
